Rosie LeProhon’s Walk for Freedom
Hello, my name is Rosie LeProhon – my husband and I have been married for 41 years and have 6 adult children, (5 together & one with his youth). We have a total of 16 grandchildren, all under the age of 10 years old! It is our prayer and our hope that they will be faithful followers of our Lord, Jesus Christ and one day raise up their own children to be faithful followers of our Lord, Jesus Christ! We were both born and raised in Ventura County, California and now reside in the beautiful Treasure Valley of Idaho.
My first “encounter” with Healing Hearts was in the early 90s when a close friend in our church told me that she was a Healing Hearts Leader. I had never heard of it before, and when she first told me about it, my first reaction was silence and shame. She did not know, but I, myself, had had an abortion before my marriage and was carrying the sin and shame of it in the deepest recesses of my heart, where NO ONE would ever find out. I believed that if I could “hide” that very dark sin, others would think me more just, but God’s Word says, “Whoever conceals his transgressions will not prosper; but he who confesses and forsakes them will obtain mercy.” Proverbs 28:13.
Several years later, a woman was giving her testimony of Healing Hearts discipleship/Biblical counseling ministry, (“who” they are; what “they” do) and how this study brought an abundance of healing to her life through the Word of God. At that time, I knew God was calling me to take this study. He lovingly desired me to do more than confess my sin and know the forgiveness that He had already given. There were other symptoms as a result of the abortion that were just as deep as my dark secret … growing and taking root, affecting me, my husband, and my family. Sins I did not see or know were there. Roots of bitterness and seeds of unforgiveness had been sown and taken root, deep in the “quietness” of my heart, but were indeed there and festering, wreaking all sorts of havoc in my marriage. Healing Hearts brought a healing from the guilt of sin and shame that I had carried (very secretly), even before my own understanding. It brought the reality of God’s tenderness, lavish love, and real forgiveness that I thought I knew regarding this sin that I buried deep in my heart. “… how much more will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without blemish to God, purify our conscience from dead works to serve the living God.” Hebrews 9:14
Healing Hearts is a ministry of grand proportions. There are Healing Hearts Leaders and Directors giving many hours of time to this ministry because they have tasted of the fruit and know that it is good. We desire other men and women to be set free from the strongholds of sin and shame. To live lives that bring the truth of God’s healing power to those who suffer the same results we suffered from believing the lies of the enemy (thief) who came to steal, kill, and destroy, and receive the Truth that came that we may have life more abundantly. (John 10:10) Supporting Healing Hearts helps to keep the ministry going.
