Who am I
My name is Laurie Beltran del Rio, and for more than two decades I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside people who are carrying hurts that often remain hidden. I’m a certified biblical counselor (since 2011), have studied at Moody Theological Seminary, and now serve as the Area Coordinator for West Michigan with Healing Hearts Ministries, International at my local church. Each week, God entrusts me with people from all stages of life—from teenagers to women in their seventies—who are seeking hope, clarity, and freedom from burdens that have shaped their identities for years. On average, I serve about seven clients per week, helping them work through grief, abuse, loss, abortion recovery, and deep emotional and spiritual wounds using Scripture-centered, gentle, compassionate care. Those who seek biblical counsel without these major issues also benefit from growth and dependence in their walk with Jesus. My own church has seen Healing Hearts become a foundational part of our counseling ministry, both for our congregation and for the surrounding community. As more people find healing, the demand continues to grow—far beyond what two or three counselors can carry alone.

Why I’m Passionate About Healing Hearts
My passion for Healing Hearts is personal. I did not realize how deeply I was hurting until I went through the Healing Hearts studies myself. Walking through each chapter with a trained leader opened my eyes to God’s heart for all people in pain. It broke the grip of legalism and replaced it with grace and truth. It changed my relationship with my family. It changed how I share my story. And ultimately, it changed the direction of my life. Because I’ve walked this road, I long to see others experience the same freedom—even those who think they “haven’t gone through anything major.” The reality is that so many people carry quiet, unspoken wounds.

Consider these truths:

• 1 in 4 women and 1 in 6 men have endured childhood sexual abuse.
• More than 1 in 3 women silently carry post abortion pain and trauma.
• Fathers of aborted children carry hidden wounds that normally aren’t acknowledged but subtly affect many areas of their lives.
• Many more men, women, and teens have experienced loss, abandonment, identity struggles, relational brokenness, or spiritual confusion.

Healing Hearts is effective because it is biblically solid, grace driven, and led by people who have walked through healing themselves. You cannot lead a Healing Hearts study unless you’ve first completed one as a participant—and been affirmed by your pastor and leaders. This creates a community of guides who understand the journey personally, not just theoretically.

Who Benefits When You Support Healing Hearts
Healing Hearts is a small nonprofit with a mission that reaches far beyond its size. Your support helps bring gospel-centered healing to people who desperately need it. Each leader is a volunteer, pouring in time of study and prayer in addition to hours in the counseling room.

• Training for new leaders so that the weight doesn’t fall on just a few counselors. We are praying for more trained for the men and women, and teen’s studies so we can rotate responsibilities and prevent burnout.
• Advanced training for current leaders on caring well for those with deep hurts and complex life experiences.
• Development of new studies and materials, including the Spanish curriculum I’ve helped translate over the past four years and a new Kurdish language curriculum.
• Online programming and international resources and training, allowing people in other countries to receive help in their own language.
• Church partnerships across West Michigan and the entire continental US, equipping pastors, elders, and ministries to serve the hurting with clarity, compassion, and biblical wisdom.
• Printing and study materials, including scholarships for those who cannot afford them.
