A Story of Hope

In 2014, I got into a relationship with a narcissist. I was a Christian single mom of a five-year-old boy. I knew better, but I was so lonely and wanting to be married so bad.

This man claimed one day that he was saved, he was now a Christian and we could get married now. I knew it wasn’t true but I decided to just marry him and pray about it later. I decided to bend the will of God and force Him to bless my marriage, yikes.

April 2017, I left him and moved back home. I was so broken and confused. I think he actually changed the wrinkles in my brain. I didn’t know up from down. I filed for divorce, cancelled it and in 2023 finally divorced for good.

I knew I needed to run, not walk, to God. This study has allowed me to look at my sin, at my ex-husband’s sin, and my family’s sin, with the grace of God in my heart.

Some days I could not get off the kitchen floor and stop crying. Now when I feel a tinge of sadness or longing for things in the past, I can confidently start thanking God for my freedom and my spirit aligns with what my mouth is saying to God. There were so many days that I was sure I would never feel joy again, but I can now say there is joy and peace in my heart.

This study has allowed me to truly forgive and be set free. God has touched my deep pain and sense of absolute betrayal and loss, and He has healed me.
