Dear Friend,

"SANCTIFICATION"... What does that word mean?

It's a process. One that starts when we are first "called out" of sin and set apart for God. Our sanctification then continues throughout our life as a practical, progressive holiness. And, finally, one day our sanctification will be complete.

It's in that middle 'here-and-now' that we see so many Christians stifled in their growth, spending years walking around not understanding why their walk with God is lifeless and unproductive. Often, this is due to an unhealed past. Why? They have not yet been awakened to the reality of how God's Word radically transforms hearts and minds. Scripture tells us that if we know the truth the truth will set us free (John 8:32). Free to live, free to love and free to serve the living God. It's only as we press into God and apply the truths of His Word that we can see his process of sanctification at work in our life. That's when true healing takes place; after the chains of bondage are removed.

So many individuals come to Healing Hearts who have walked with the Lord for years but didn't realize that their past hurts were keeping them from living the abundant life. Lana's testimony below is an example of what we encounter daily in our ministry at Healing Hearts.

"I want to say a HUGE thank you for this study! I don't know where to start except to say, 'this whole path of finding [Healing Hearts] study, and now the day of completion, has been a gift from God.' God's Word came alive to me like never before, and great truths were spoken into my life. I have been writing them on my heart, in my phone, on sticky notes, etc. I have seen God change my attitudes, reactions and hurts. I am seeing God in the little things and trusting Him in everything, truly believing that He understands and is there. I have experienced His peace that passes understanding, seen Him work things out in my heart, answer prayer, take away memories and I am learning to hear His voice on a whole new level. My thought life is changing!

One key thing that stands out to me from this study is the statement about 'we cannot forgive ourselves!' Sue, this was a lie that has been told to me so many times over the years from strong Christian women: 'Lana, you are your worst enemy. You just need to learn to forgive yourself!' I never could. This wreaked havoc in my life for many years. The day I read 'we cannot forgive ourselves', a light went on and my tears flowed for a long time. I found freedom in this but, it is something that I continue to submit to God believing and knowing that only He can forgive me, change me and transform me into His image! God has been placing women on my heart and the needs that are out there. I would like to know what God is wanting from me in this. My heart to share this with others is becoming part of my conversations and a true desire to see it become part of our women's ministry. Sue thank you for being willing to be authentic and share your story, for allowing God to use your pain to bring about blessing. God bless you for that! I will forever be grateful for the last number of months. The Hem of His Garment...has been used by God to make changes in my life. May others see Christ when they see me! Thank you! I feel like no words can adequately express the changes deep within my heart!"

As God reached into this woman's heart and healed her He gave her a desire to reach out to others so they can benefit from what she has received. God will use every person we touch to touch the life of another. This is what sanctification is all about. This is what church should be all about, reaching our world for Jesus Christ!

The need for our services increase daily! This world is a messy place. If we want to make a difference for Christ we need to roll up our sleeves and get our hand dirty. Giving has been low over the summer months and we need your help. Please prayerfully consider partnering with us by making a monthly contribution today that will make a difference in the lives of those who need help.

In His Love,

Sue Liljenberg
International Director
