Dear Friend,

With all of the ministry activity that has taken place in Healing Hearts since the first of this year, I am thankful each and every day that we have a team of godly people partnering with us through prayer. In order to accomplish anything for the Lord, our first plan of action must be to pray. Thank you for lifting us up daily in your prayers, as well as your much appreciated and needful financial gifts.

An opportunity has been placed before us that is in need of much prayer. This past month I was contacted by Rick Daviscourt, Executive Director of Extended Hands Ministries, with a special request regarding the Torre Fuerte Home for girls at risk in Arequipa, Peru. This is one of many projects that Extended Hands is involved with. This home provides spiritual, emotional and physical care and rehabilitation for girls who have come from a wide range of backgrounds, including abandonment, abuse and exploitation.
Some of the girls are considered orphans, while most come from backgrounds where there are no family members who can or are willing to care for them, thus making them social orphans. At this home, the girls are given a family environment where they can learn to trust, hope and love once again. Currently there are 36 girls who range in age from 6-15. They hope to expand the home to be able to minister to as many as 60 girls in the near future. As they have been working with these girls and learning about their circumstances, it has been heart-breaking to discover that most of them have been sexually abused. Unfortunately, sexual abuse is common-place in the country of Peru. Rick asked if I would be willing to meet with him to discuss whether or not Healing Hearts could be instrumental in helping these precious girls find the hope and healing that only Jesus can give.

We have had other requests to develop material that can be used for teenaged girls, but this request particularly touched my heart. Many of our leaders in Healing Hearts were also sexually abused as children and have received healing through God's Word, presenting another reason this project is so special to us. For several years we have been seeking God's time and place to launch the Spanish translation of our post-abortion Bible study, and when or if we are to write another study. South America may be the perfect place to accomplish both tasks.

As we met with Rick Daviscourt and Jackie Soleim, co-founder of Extended Hands, and they shared with us the great need, not only at this home, but in the country as a whole, my heart broke for these little ones. I feel that we can help, and that is why we are asking for your prayers. I've never written anything for this age group, but I know with prayer and the anointing of the Holy Spirit, God will help me. My goal is to complete a draft copy of this project by the end of July so that Rick can work with translators. A tentative trip has been scheduled for October 5-10, 2006. This will give us an opportunity to interact with the girls, see the home and meet with some of the local pastors and lay ministers who are working there.

Please pray for the following:

  • God's anointing and inspiration of the Holy Spirit as I write for this age group.

  • That my time will be protected so that I can focus on this project.

  • Financial provision.

  • Open doors for the Spanish translation of our post-abortion study.

  • Translation of the new materials.

  • For other HH leaders that will be called to this mission along with me.

  • As God lays this mission on your heart, pray accordingly.

Your prayers regarding this project will be much appreciated.

Please continue to pray for:

  • HH Prison ministry: 21 women have started a summer group, and there is a waiting list. Pray for inmates Carrie, Heather, Willette, Vicky and Tammy, who are being trained to minister so that we can reach more women in the prison.

  • Pray for all HH leaders, that God will anoint them with His Word for this session of classes.

  • Continued prayer for the transition of our ministry in Ukraine. Pray for Valentina, our Ukranian leader, that she will be encouraged as she takes the lead in this vibrant, growing ministry.

  • Pray for our E-Ministry. We have about 90 spots for e-clients, and all of those spots have been filled since our new website was launched last November. Pray for Sally Lancaster as she works out all the bugs, for Lue Feathers as she directs this ministry and for all of our e-ministers as they minister hope and healing to both saved and unsaved women.

Thank you again for your prayers and for your financial gifts. May the Lord bless and keep you always.

In His Love,

Sue Liljenberg

President
