Healing Hearts Ministries Internaional [LOGO]

Dear Friend,

Almighty God goes before us and calls us to be courageous as He leads us into battle to claim territory that He knows is already won! Our place is to trust and obey, and He will bring peace and healing to those who are His own (Deut 31:7-8; Lk 10:1-12).

As I write this, I am looking forward to spending the rest of the day prepping for a video lesson in El Borde de Su Manto (The Hem of His Garment) with my Cuban friend, Rayda. You will meet her below. First, allow me introduce myself. I am Laurie Beltran del Rio, widowed since January 2015, mother of five adult children, soon to be a Grandma for the first time, and blessed to serve with Healing Hearts since 2011! God established the work of my hands (Ps 90) with an internship through Healing Hearts as I study for an MA in Biblical Spiritual Formation and Discipleship with Moody Theological Seminary. In this season of life, there is no time for grief, nor need, as He has numbered my days and has demonstrated His plans to produce fruit that lasts!

What joy to see Him prepare the harvest in the Spanish-speaking field assigned to Healing Hearts! In 2017, another HH Leader, Lana Klassen, helped take our first edition of El Borde de Su Manto to Cuba for a “crash course” training workshop. With the field plowed and seeds planted, the harvest began. Rayda had met Lana on that trip and recently reached out to her to request access to more studies. I was beginning translation work on the revised El Borde de Su Manto, so Sue asked me to connect with Rayda to see how we might meet her need. As it turns out, God blew us away with an even bigger plan, beyond all that we could ask or think!

Our heart’s desire was to develop and establish a Spanish training program equal to our English training for leaders. God had touched Rayda’s heart with a desire to use the study more effectively, and once aware of our entire family of counseling Bible studies, her question was, “Can I get certified and train other leaders here in Cuba, so we do this ministry well?” She is especially interested in the post-abortive studies and teen studies, as abortion has become the normative form of birth control in their impoverished country, leaving spiritual, physical, and emotional destruction in its wake.

Needless to say, we began training immediately. When you read Rayda’s testimony and learn of her background and the extent of her current ministry, you will see how God has graciously and powerfully prepared an even bigger field to harvest than we previously imagined. As Rayda and I walk through the training process, we will be documenting it, noting any cultural adjustments needed, aiming to standardize the implementation of future international ministry development. In addition to training national leaders in Cuba, we have received requests from Spain, Chile, and Peru, and have exposure in Mexico. In the United States, Spanish is the most common second language, so we expect this outreach to multiply exponentially worldwide once it is available. At this time, we especially need spiritually mature bilingual leaders to help in training and leading women through the studies. Please join us in praying for God to supply.

Now to introduce you to Rayda in her own words…

“The Bible says, ‘He who calls you is faithful, He will surely do it’ (1 Thess 5:24). With that text, the Lord called me to serve Him more than 20 years ago.  I am a beloved daughter of God, my name is Rayda Ortega Sánchez. I am married to Pastor Felipe Guerra Molina, our son Caleb is 12 years old. We are members in the Evangelical Convention of Cuba, Los Pinos Nuevos, our church is in the town of Guayos, Santi Spíritus Province, in Central Cuba.

“Having completed an MA in Theological Studies from our seminary, I serve women in various ministry areas in our church. Additionally, I have served the Lord (9+ yrs) as the National Leader of the Women's Ministry in Cuba. My passion is to help women in evangelism, discipleship, counseling, etc. I also train women’s ministry leaders. My national leadership team is comprised of 7 women, one in each region of the country, bringing the gospel to the different communities of the Island.

“When Sister Lana’s group offered a Hem of His Garment workshop in our seminary, Cuban women from various denominations participated. I saw them crying and testifying, every day was unforgettable. All the studies were distributed. In a few months they were requesting more, as these women began to bring God’s healing to others. Later, at a Women's Conference, we received 500 more. This was not enough! This precious and profound material has brought transformation among our women. During our life on earth, we are constantly being tried and tested. We need healing to continue growing in the Lord, to serve Him as He deserves. I humble myself at His feet and ask the Lord to continue to use me for His glory and honor. I never imagined an opportunity to become certified with Healing Hearts! Thank you very much for the training, and this beautiful ministry! I will strive with God's help to make the most of this time, continuing to heal the hearts of many broken-hearted women.”

God bless you, in the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.”  — Rayda Ortega Sánchez

PRAY WITH US: For Laurie’s translation work of our women’s and youth bible studies; For Laurie and others who are translating our studies in Spanish; For paper to become available to Cuban printers so our studies can be printed locally; For the Lord to raise up Cuban leaders through our training; For bilingual leaders to be added to our ministry; For wisdom (and patience) as the Lord expands our Spanish ministry in His perfect timing.

Thank you for praying, giving, and serving with us! Your support allows us to be prepared and available to respond when God opens doors like He has in Cuba. In addition to your regular giving, would you consider helping us raise vital funds to support this growing mission field? Our special “Cuban Outreach” donation project has been established to sponsor the costs of producing and distributing studies within Cuba to those who cannot afford them. Visit www.healinghearts.org/donate to learn more about joining this special project.

What a joy to be partnering with you in this good work!

God Bless You,

Sue Liljenberg
