 Do you ever wonder if the whole world has gone mad? Recently I find myself not even wanting to turn on the evening news because, either our politicians are at it again, concerned only with their own agenda and not real world problems, or another child pop star has gone off the deep end believing in the lie that only sex will sell what she has to offer.
Regardless of the political situation that we are faced with, the true burden on my heart right now is the recent Miley Cyrus news. It seems to be all over the news that the innocent young Disney star Hannah Montana has now turned virtual porn queen with her most recent music video "Wrecking Ball," and her recent appearance on MTV's Video Music Awards. In a recent interview with Billboard magazine about her newest album "BANGERZ," Cyrus stated: "I feel like I can really be myself, I really have more of a connection of who I am, and I feel like I can maybe express that more in my music now." For years Cyrus and her well known father Billy Ray have professed to be Christians. She has influenced young girls all over the world through her Disney shows and concerts, now herein lies the danger that she will lead them much like the Pied Piper into sexual immorality. How many more Disney stars will we see go down this road? What happened?
This should be a wakeup call for Christian parents everywhere to beware of what your kids are watching and who they follow. As with all of these young stars who have plummeted off the deep end there were telling signs along the way. The problem is we have to be looking for them. This young girl is very troubled along with a whole host of other young girls in the entertainment field. They need our prayers and they need help.
This is the very reason why we as a ministry have stepped up to the plate to develop our youth division. We must reach this generation or the enemy will devour them.
Our workload is overflowing with broken women and men from generations past. I can't even imagine the challenge we are going to have when this generation grows up. That's why we are releasing the First Love study to parents and youth workers so we can reach as many young people as possible with the truth of the gospel now, so they won't need us later.
