When I accepted the invitation to be a key note speaker at the South American conference sponsored by Baptists for Life and to train women to lead the Healing Hearts Bible study we really didn't know what to expect. The whole trip exceeded any expectations that we could possibly have had. This years' conference attendance was lower than normal due to the economic climate in South America. There were approximately 80 people in attendance. Because of the lower attendance we figured that if we had 8-10 ladies sign up for our training it would be a blessing. When it came time for me to teach the class we were shocked at the attendance. Twenty Nine women from three different countries (Peru, Chile, Ecuador) filed into the room anxious to learn and also needing to be ministered to. We had our challenges with neither Adena nor I speaking Spanish but God provided good translators along the way. All of the women were given a copy of the Healing Hearts bible study to take home and complete on their own. The training was just a fraction of what we do here in the states because of time constraints. God gave us many opportunities to minister to these precious women who were so hungry to find answers. In just a short period of time we could see God healing their hearts as we listened, ministered to them and prayed with them. I truly feel that I left a piece of my heart there and can't wait to return. God knitted our hearts to theirs in a very special way. I recently received a phone call from the conference organizer who informed me that 11 women in Lima are already enrolled in a Healing Hearts Bible Study group at her Crisis Pregnancy Center. Please keep all of these women in your prayers. The pastor of a church in Lima, Pastor Lucho Garcia, asked me to come and speak to his congregation on Sunday morning following the conference. It was a blessing to be able to attend a worship service there even though we could not understand a thing they were saying. The pastor was so excited to hear about Healing Hearts that he invited us to his home for lunch prior to us leaving. At that meeting he told us that he had been praying for over a year that God would send a ministry to help them minister to the women in their church and community and he felt we were an answer to this prayer. He asked if we would come back next year to do a women's outreach conference. We are working with Pastor Garcia to prepare and equip a few women leaders within the church so that when we go back we can train them to lead the Bible Study and be prepared to minister to women who come to the conference. Please pray for us as we tentatively prepare to return in February 2013. Upon returning next year we will also do follow up training with the women in Lima who have completed the Healing Hearts study and feel called to teach it. Our Spanish materials are currently going through the final editing. We hope to have them finished by early summer and ready for printing. God has opened a huge door for our ministry. The Spanish speaking population here in the U.S. alone is enough to double the size of our ministry. In order to publish both of the Healing Hearts studies for use here in the U.S. we are going to need to raise $6,500 by early summer. Due to the tremendous growth of the ministry we are experiencing financial growing pains and we need your help. We ended last year with a short fall of approximately $24,000 in the general fund and we are very short handed in the office. Most of the women we minister to are not financially able to contribute to Healing Hearts so we are very much a mission organization both in the U.S. and abroad. So we could really use your help, especially during the next several months. Here are three specific ways you can help:
