Dear Friend,

On behalf of the Israel mission team I want to thank everyone who sacrificed for us financially, gave generously and prayed for us. We could not have accomplished our mission without your help.

Prior to Donna Murgola and I leaving for Israel, we received news that the Door of Hope had closed its doors for lack of funding. We made numerous attempts to contact the people who worked there but were never able to connect with anyone. This was heart-breaking for us because they were on the front lines and appeared to be our link to helping the women on the streets there. Pat Apple, the pastor's wife in charge of women's ministry in the church we were visiting, came down with pneumonia, so we were unable to meet with her as well. This was very discouraging, but we knew that God wanted us there, so we prayed and trusted that His will would be accomplished , not our own.

We are thankful that God made it absolutely clear that we were to go on this mission and that He bolted the doors open for this trip. Had He not done that, we would have questioned whether or not we were in His will. Although two of our major connections fell through, God did have a plan and other connections were made. There is so much to share I don't think it is possible in just one newsletter, but I will try. We are praising the Lord for His faithfulness.

During our time in Tel Aviv we stayed at the Gilgal Hotel just a few blocks away from the church. Little did we know that God had His hand in this and that a connection would be made to benefit our mission in a big way. The owner of the hotel is a Messianic Jew by the name of Jacob Damkani who has an amazing testimony and ministry to the Jews in Israel. Immediately upon meeting him, he gave us a book he authored entitled "Why Me?". He told us to read his book and then we would know why God had called us to Israel. His book helped us to understand the mindset of the Jewish people and how to effectively minister to them. After Donna and I read the book, we realized that God called us to Israel for a time such as this to be part of God's plan to minister to His chosen people. Looks like God's plan was much larger than ours.

Jacob is also post-abortive. Prior to coming to faith in Jesus, he pressured his girlfriend into having an abortion. In his book he writes about his repentance for being responsible for taking the life of a child. His letter to his former girlfriend was heartrending and again reveals that men suffer from abortion and need healing as well as women. It will be interesting to watch and see how God will further our relationship with Jacob and his ministry to the Jews in Israel. Pray for God to continue to open doors.

Although Pat Apple, the pastor's wife, was very ill and was not able to meet with us, her assistant, GiGi, took us under her wing and invited us to her home for tea. Gigi and her husband Sharif are in Israel because Sharif is employed by Sinai (Egypt) Airlines. They are originally from Egypt. When Gigi found out about our mission and our ministry she immediately asked if we would share at the women's Bible study at church that next evening. Donna and I both shared and hearts were touched. One Russian woman who didn't speak English broke down and cried as our message was being translated. She connected immediately with Donna. Although they didn't speak the same language, the love and compassion of Jesus was all they needed to communicate with one another. We left information on Healing Hearts with all the women and are trusting that God planted seeds that will soon grow for His glory.

Gigi was so excited about Healing Hearts that she asked if we would be willing to come to Cairo. They will be moving back home to Egypt in February of 2011 and they attend the largest Evangelical Free Church in Cairo. Gigi has connections with a woman at her church who may be willing to translate the Healing Hearts studies into Arabic. God truly knitted our hearts together and we promised her that, God-willing, we will one day come to Cairo to minister to the women there. She said there is such a great need. We are hoping that we can lead Gigi through one of our Bible studies online, in order to prepare her for the ministry God might have for her in Israel and in Cairo.

We spent several hours with Pastor Steve Apple who shared with us what God is doing in Israel. When he told us that only one-half of one percent of the Jewish population is born again, my heart sunk. All I could think of were the words of Jesus in Matthew 23:37 after He rebuked the scribes and Pharisees, "Oh Jerusalem, Jerusalem, who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent for her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, the way a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, and you were unwilling." Sadly, this portion of Matthew chapter 23 is alive and well in Israel today. Read it and pray for Israel!

During our time in Israel, we rented a car and took a few days to follow in Jesus' steps. We started out one day by driving through the red light district in Tel Aviv. We were able to shoot some video footage of the area and pray. It was hard to drive away knowing that for this trip, at least, we would not be able to minister to the women there, but we are confident that God will send us back one day and ministry will take place in His time and in His way. These women need to be rescued and taken to a place where they can be set free from drug use and be ministered to physically, emotionally and spiritually. We are asking God for a plan and trusting that He will continue to guide us.

We headed for Galilee to spend a day. Words cannot express how it felt to stand and look at the Sea of Galilee, knowing that Jesus walked upon that water, or what it felt like to stand on Mt. Arbel, knowing that our Lord was actually there and prayed. We did a prayer drive around the Sea of Galilee and saw too many things to write about. I only know that God captured our hearts in a way that only He could and we will never be the same again.

As you can see, God's plan was different and much larger than ours. We are now working diligently to contact and network with other organizations who help and reach out to women in the sex trade industry. We are convinced that we have an important piece to the puzzle in helping them. Please pray for us as we meet with various organizations and network. Working to help and rescue these women is a huge endeavor that no one organization can handle on its own. We must work together for the glory of God.

Thank you again for all of your financial and prayer support. We will keep you informed as God's plan unfolds.

Shalom in the Precious Name of Yeshua Hamashiach,

International Director
