HEALING HEARTS MINISTRIES

What do you do when everything around you seems to be falling apart, and there appears to be no hope in the battle? First, we look up and know that God hears our every cry for help, and we can trust that He will help us, true to His good and perfect will.
Second, we need to understand who and what it is we are fighting against. The Apostle Paul often used military terms to describe the Christian walk, we are told that we "fight not against flesh and blood, but against evil rulers and authorities in the unseen realm, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places", Ephesians 6:12. Our enemy is unseen, it is very likely that we may be caught unaware of the source of the fiery darts coming at us. The enemy is relentless: "Your adversary, the devil, prowls around like a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour." 1 Peter 5:8. We can become battle weary, our minds torn between the easy path to relief or continuing in a fight we seem unable to win. And, the truth is, we can't win on our own!
Third, in this battle, we must remember who our Commander in Chief is: the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. He has not left you without weapons to fight the good fight; we have been given divinely powerful weapons (2 Corinthians 10:4-5) to pull down strongholds and demolish any thought that sets itself up against the knowledge of God. We have the whole armor of God (Ephesians 6), and we have the LORD Himself on our side. For this reason, Peter says regarding the enemy, "stand firm against him, and be strong in your faith." (1 Peter 5:9).
Lastly, we need to submit ourselves to God; we cannot rely on our own wisdom or devices. Victory comes only in submission to our Commander in Chief: "Submit therefore to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you." James 4:7. Why? Because the enemy knows he has no chance of victory over a soldier who is wearing the full armor of God. We are also to be in prayer at all times, for wisdom and strength in the battle.
Read what one of our men participants had to say after taking our study, The Good Fight. Brandon was weary, and the end of his marriage seemed a strong possibility. But once in the study, he started to see things differently:
As an X-Infantry Marine, my marital relationship with my wife was downrange and in the crosshairs of a long-term separation, with eventual divorce to follow.
Since beginning this study, I found myself very uncomfortable throughout several of the required sections, and often struggled to complete them in a timely manner. Little did I care to realize that God was using this study as an instrument to help develop and train me into a better father, husband, and Christian.
Really, this course was a sort of spiritual bootcamp for me, as I now realize how I needed to be broken down in order to be built up again. It is still a work in progress, but I feel much better equipped to fight the battle to save my marriage and be the man God intended me to be.
Thank you, Healing Hearts!

Praise God that He was able to help open Brandon’s eyes to these life-changing truths before his marriage and family were torn apart. This is the power of the Gospel at work!
Do you know others like Brandon? Please consider sharing this email with those who may be struggling in their marriages or in their role as a man of God. There is hope and restoration in God's Word, no matter where they are in life.
Healing Hearts offers two incredible discipleship studies for men who are ready to seek God’s help to restore broken relationships, overcome life-dominating sin, or simply be strengthened in their spiritual walk. The Good Fight (the study Brandon took) is perfect for every man, while Restoring a Father’s Heart helps restore men who have been involved in an abortion.
Local groups and online counselors are ready to help at healinghearts.org/men.
PRAY WITH US for our upcoming National Conference (September 18-21), that it may be a time of refreshing for our leaders and guests. We pray for the Lord of Harvest to continue to prepare, call, equip, and send workers out into His harvest field (Matthew 9:37-38).
