Healing Hearts Ministries Internaional [LOGO]

Dear Friend,

For the next several months I'm going to have you focus your prayers
on different outreaches within Healing Hearts Ministries.
In order to give you better insight I've asked our leaders who
oversee those outreaches to write a short article so you can see
how God is working and how you can pray for that outreach
specifically. This month we covet your prayers for our prison
outreach. God is doing amazing things at Dwight Women's
Correctional Facility in Dwight Illinois.

Dwight Women's Correctional Facility
in Dwight, Illinois
by Jenny Hall

Choices! We all make them every day. Some are good, and some
are bad. Some choices are life changing. All choices made in
life have an outcome…positive or negative. Some choices we wish
we could take back or do differently. The women incarcerated at
the Dwight Correctional Center in Dwight, Illinois know this better
than anyone. They are reminded everyday of the choices that landed
them a prison sentence and for some it will last a lifetime.
I am reminded of the saying, "but for the grace of God, there go I."

Healing Hearts began ministering at the Dwight Correctional Center
in 2004. This is a level 1 Maximum-Security facility with an
average daily population of 1,039 offenders. They house offenders
with a light sentence all the way to offenders who have a maximum
sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole.

When we began our relationship with these women four years ago
I was terrified. How would I relate to these women? How in the
world do you counsel a woman who was on death row until her sentence
was commuted to life in prison? Then someone showed me this
scripture in Isaiah 45:2-3 I will go before you and level the
mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars
of iron. I will give you treasures of darkness, riches stored in
secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of
Israel, who summons you by name.

Ah, yes, the Lord...He would be faithful to go before and prepare the
hearts for His purposes. The women we encounter are precious.
Many are lost, broken and confused. Many have hardened hearts and
are angry at the world, some are living a homosexual lifestyle,
some are battling drug dependency, and most are weary and tired.
They are weary and tired of living a life that has no meaning or
value apart from God. They are heart broken because of the things
they have done and the things that have been done to them. They
are Mothers who have lost the blessing of raising their children
and many are women who have been abused, rejected, tossed aside,
and forgotten by the ones who were supposed to love them. They are
women living in bondage and the pain and hurt runs deep.

The Lord has been faithful over the years to bring true His promise
in Isaiah. We have seen His heart for the lost women at Dwight.
There is no doubt about it; God's spirit is alive in this facility!
Since we began ministering four years ago we have had the privilege
of working with five very godly women who just happen to be inmates.
It has always been our prayer that the Lord would raise up strong
women at Dwight to lead the groups. These women are instrumental
in bringing the Word of God and challenging their fellow sisters to
examine their lives against the scriptures.

The four months we are with each group are intense. The battle is
strong and Satan does not want to see these women healed. But our
God is bigger and we see Him work miracles all the time. He is
making a difference in the lives of the ladies! They become lighter
because their burdens are lifted. We see strongholds broken and we
see the prayers of those interceding for the women being answered.
Jesus is healing them and because of that the inmates are eager to
share their healing with others. They are telling their friends
about the difference the Lord has made in their lives and
encouraging them to seek out the same healing for themselves!

Choices! Would you choose today to commit to pray for this ministry
that impacts a life for eternity?

From Valerie: Healing Hearts helped me open up and release the
burden of my sin that I kept bottled up inside not wanting anyone
to know. It helped me to heal my brokenness and accept the
forgiveness of my Savior.

From Maria: Healing Hearts helped me to see me and to learn to be
the real me God created. Healing Hearts has shown me how I can
apply the Word of God to issues in my life. I held onto the
Hem of His Garment. I pray that one day soon I can go home and
feel as free as I felt in the bible study.

From Roberta: Healing Hearts has helped me so much. Yes, it hurt
opening up my past but I know now that I need to open that up so
the Lord can heal me. I'm not totally healed but the process has
started.

Please lift Jenny and the other leaders at Dwight in your prayers
daily. This ministry is possible through faithful volunteers and
through your financial gifts and support. We could never thank
you enough for praying and giving.

"He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty
to captives and freedom to prisoners." Isaiah 61:1b.

May the Lord bless and keep you always.
