Healing Hearts Ministries Internaional [LOGO]

Dear Friend,

Most of you are familiar with the small group and online Bible studies that make up the core of Healing Hearts Ministries, and over the years you have heard countless testimonies of how God has healed individuals and transformed lives through those studies. But you may not know that Healing Hearts has also developed a wonderful video-based curriculum designed specifically to strengthen and enrich mother-daughter relationships.

Walking Together is a 5-session video package that is perfect for a mother/daughter conference or retreat, and is also suitable for small groups or one-on-one home studies.  The teaching in each session is solidly based on biblical principles that will move moms and daughters toward understanding, forgiveness, and reconciliation.  The results are often dramatic. In addition, many women who participate in a Walking Together conference will go on to seek healing in other areas of their lives, and this will often include participation in a Healing Hearts Bible Study such as First Love: Embracing a Love that LastsBinding up the Broken-hearted or The Hem of His Garment.

I am encouraged by the stories I hear coming out of Walking Together events. In our sinful world, a godly, loving relationship between a mother and daughter can be a source of joy, comfort, and stability for both.  I would like to share the following words from Sheila DeVries, a Walking Together conference facilitator:

This past August, I was honored to participate as a facilitator for the mothers’ sessions at a Walking Together conference held at Calvary Chapel South in Kent, WA.  We used the single-day conference model and had 55 attendees including mothers, daughters, and mentors.

It was truly amazing to see the transformation in relationships that took place over the course of the day. When the women and girls arrived in the morning, you could see the uncertainty on their faces and it was obvious that some of them really did not want to be there.  However, as the conference progressed and they participated in the video and peer break-out sessions, walls were broken down and the conversations between the older and younger generations became more intimate and honest

During the breakout groups, moms and daughters learned with their peers how to apply the teachings from each video session.  In the last two sessions, the mothers and daughters were asked to walk together through exercises of confession, forgiveness, sharing action steps with each other, and praying together.  The emotions were very real and the loving embraces as they prayed together were a testimony to the incredible work God did in healing and strengthening these important family relationships.

Survey responses like these confirmed the depth of what happened:

97% of the participants at this conference said they were likely or very likely to recommend Walking Together to someone else.

I felt such joy as I witnessed the impact that the Walking Together conference had on the hearts of our participants! I urge you to consider making this much-needed teaching available to the moms and daughters in your church or community. Whether you decide to have a conference, a retreat, or a series of small group meetings, a Walking Together event is relatively simple to host.  Everything you need for planning is in the 2 DVD package, which can be purchased from Healing Hearts.  Along with the video teaching, there is a timeline, specific directions for the Event Coordinator, and notes for the breakout session facilitators.  You can download customizable web banners, social media graphics, flyers and more.

If your church is small, consider joining together with other churches in the area.  Gather a team of women and use their respective strengths for different aspects of the event such as promotion, decorations, worship, hospitality etc. Whether your group is a small gathering of moms with their daughters or a large conference-style event, you can be sure God will work in the hearts of those who attend!

I trust you can see from Sheila’s story the kind of impact our Walking Together curriculum can have, and the value it could be to your own church or community.

Please join me in praying for the women and daughters who have benefitted from this teaching. Pray that these relationships would continue to grow strong and healthy, that

their faith would be increased, and that Christ would be glorified. Also pray that these moms and daughters will enroll to go through our First Love Study.  Pray that women in local churches would come forward to organize and lead Walking Together events in their communities.

As always, thank you for supporting us in achieving God’s mission of “binding up the brokenhearted.”

In His Love,

Sue Liljenberg
President/International Director
