There was strife, division, and stress in my marriage. We loved each other but we certainly weren't treating each other with love. We didn't know how to love. I don't think you can love until you are healed. We were both wounded people wounding one another... I was very much saved, but I did not trust God and was very religious in some of my thinking! I thought to myself 'If God is a loving God. Why? Why? He should have kept me from getting raped.' When you don't trust God and you listen to the enemy's words like Eve did in the garden you remain in bondage. The enemy tries to convince you that you can't trust God and you need to listen to what he is saying as opposed to what God is saying. We inherit this horrible distrust of God from Adam and Eve."

"I did not encounter a non-condemning God until I entered that class. As I looked into the faces of my counselors all I saw was love and forgiveness. Is this what it is supposed to be like? Is that what real Christians sound and act like? It was in this study that I learned the whole truth about forgiveness especially the concept of not being able to forgive myself. This was a wonderful revelation. This was an "ah- ha" moment for me. I have since taught that truth to others. The unbiblical concept of self-forgiveness has been taught church wide. Most of the people that I have shared this with are just as surprised as I was. It is a very liberating biblical truth. It moves me and self-righteousness out of the way. If you can forgive yourself you don't need a savior. I was surprised that I didn't understand that earlier. It has now become part of my life - I have never let go of that revelation."
