Two Go In, One Comes Out
Intense colors show the darkness of her abortion experience as she leaves the building immediately afterwards. Her face looks lost, bitter, numb, shadowed. These were my feelings right after my abortion. Only 18, but I suddenly felt so old.
Fatherhood Lost
Every baby has a father and these men suffer when their child is aborted. Although the blue/black tones express sorrow, notice the gold light on one side touching his shoulder--God's love seeking to heal the hurt.
Empty Arms
Although young, she suffers a mother's grief after her abortion. Her arms long to hold the baby she didn't even realize was a baby. A frozen tear on her cheek may last many years, because this sorrow doesn't fade away by itself.
Flowers
Sometimes after abortion someone gives the woman or girl flowers. Her depression and guilt seem to crush the flowers. However, on the horizon of the painting a faint orange light signifies that God has a plan to save her from her despair.
Tears of God
This painting illustrates God's sorrow over abortion. Each baby inside a teardrop is at a different stage of prenatal development. From the tiniest at 5 weeks to the nearly full term baby; all are precious to the Father and all are equally human. The blue tones of this piece were laid in like a veil over a colorful landscape scene, showing how abortion casts a shadow over our land. The large cross reminds us that Jesus came and died for all our sins, even the sin of abortion, and that we are no different today than they were in the days of His crucifixion on earth.
Tracy's Dream
This painting is based on the true story of a young girl's abortion experience, told to me 20 years later when we were in the Healing Hearts Bible Study together. She asked me to paint it and I did, to the best of my ability.
Tracy was a farm girl growing up in a Christian home. When she was 15 years old, she was raped by an older acquaintance. This traumatic experience resulted in Tracy getting pregnant.
Although she was a Christian girl, in her panic she decided to get an abortion. Regret came almost immediately, followed by guilt and sorrow.
Then one night Tracy had a dream in which God touched her with His mercy and love. She saw His great hands reach down from Heaven to gently take her baby to Himself forever. Soft colors flooded the landscape, as soft as the Father's mercy for a heartbroken teenage mother who grieved over her choice. Years later, Tracy married and had more children.
Grace
Once the post-abortive woman repents and turns to God, His radiance envelops her as she kneels at the foot of the Cross. The bread and wine offered her convey God's complete forgiveness through Jesus' death on the cross for ALL sinners. No sin is bigger than the Cross.
He Walks With Me
This painting shows the forgiven woman enjoying intimacy with her Lord Jesus who tenderly holds both her and the child she aborted. He loves and cares for them both, and is taking the baby to Himself in Heaven.
Binding Up The Brokenhearted
The badly broken clay jar has been repaired by our Father's hand, and His strength glows at the crack lines. "I have become like broken pottery" Psalm 31. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and "saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18 "But we have this treasure in jars of clay, to show that this great power is from God and not ourselves."
Fruit of the Spirit
God's peace in my life today!
